Clay Ashdown is Chief Financial Officer of Intermountain Health, where he is responsible for all finance-related functions for the enterprise. This includes finance operations, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting and accounting, internal audit, debt and credit management, rating agency and investor relations, investment and treasury functions, payer contracting, revenue cycle, risk management, construction, and real estate. He also chairs the board of Intermountain Ventures, LLC, which focuses on establishing new ventures, making strategic investments, and forming strategic partnerships.
Prior to assuming his current position as CFO in October 2023, Clay held numerous finance leadership roles at Intermountain Health. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of Finance Operations, with responsibility for Intermountain’s hospitals, ambulatory and physician services, and enterprise shared services in addition to the organization’s debt, capital markets, managed care contracting, construction, real estate, and Ventures functions. Clay joined Intermountain Health as an advanced financial analyst in 2000 after working at the public accounting firm KPMG, where he started his career as an auditor.
Clay serves on the board of directors of R1, the U.S. healthcare industry’s leading revenue cycle management solution provider.
Clay earned a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, both from the University of Utah. Clay and his family reside in South Jordan, Utah.
