At Delta Community Hospital, patients receive the highest quality medical care. We offer affordable care to all regardless of ability to pay. Our caregivers continue a tradition of advanced and urgent medical care that began in our area in the 1960s.

Delta Community Hospital is named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s “Critical Access Hospitals to Know” list. The hospital was commended by Becker’s for the benefit it provides to the Delta community and its dedicated community health programming:

“Delta Community Hospital has served the Delta community for more than 30 years, growing to include four family practice physicians and a team of 74 caregivers,” Becker’s reports. “Delta Community Hospital supports several community programs, including free screenings and initiatives to encourage health and fitness among individuals and families.”

The hospital is a Certified Level IV Trauma Facility, a Certified Stroke Receiving Center, and is certified by Stepping Up for Utah Babies. Some other interesting facts about the hospital include:

  • The first artificially intelligent (AI) colonoscopy device in Utah was used here in 2022.
  • Tele-oncology services started here in 2023 after equipment was installed in patient rooms.
  • The hospital uses state-of-the-art imaging equipment, with new ultrasound (2021), CT (2023), echocardiography (2024), and X-ray (2025) machines.
  • The hospital was enlarged in 2021 with a 4,000 square-foot expansion. The project increased the size of the Emergency Department, Laboratory, and Surgical Department.
  • Nurses are trained and certified to provide high-level cancer treatment here.
 

History

Delta Community Hospital is a 17-bed Critical Access Hospital in western Millard County, Utah, and is part of the non-profit Intermountain Health system. The hospital was originally called West Millard Hospital and began operating in the 1960s. It was donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Intermountain Health in 1980. The hospital’s current structure was built in May of 1985.

Volunteers are a critical part of Delta Community Hospital. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to serve, grow, learn, make new friends, exchange ideas, and contribute to our community.

How do volunteers serve in the hospital?

  • Staff and operate the gift shop
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors
  • Serve as liaison in the Emergency Room and Same Day Surgery waiting rooms and in the Medical/Surgical Unit
  • Deliver flowers and letters to patients
  • Plan and organize activities

How can I become a hospital volunteer?

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Complete an online application
  • Volunteer a minimum of 4 hours a week
  • Make a six-month commitment
  • Comply with all health requirements for vaccinations and immunizations
  • Complete new volunteer orientation
  • Be able to complete the tasks required of the position
