Nursing Excellence
at Good Samaritan Hospital
In August 2022, Good Samaritan became a Magnet designated organization! Magnet designated hospitals are considered to be the gold standard for nursing practice and innovation. American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program provides a roadmap to advance nursing excellence, attracting and rewarding the very best in nursing talent, Magnet-recognized organizations embody a collaborative culture. At GSH, we are proud of our dedicated nursing caregivers, alongside all team members of the care delivery continuum, who help to create an environment that surpasses the expectations of patients looking for high-quality, compassionate care. Good Samaritan will submit redesignation documents in August 2026.
The biblical story of the “Good Samaritan” is rooted in helping one another. This parable exemplifies the practice of going out of the way to help others. At Good Samaritan, this legacy of the “Good Samaritan” and service to one another, serves as a foundation for our strategic plan of ministry, which is underpinned by our Intermountain Health values; aligning to support our caregivers in professional clinical practice with the patient at the center of everything that we do.

Career Ladder Program
The Intermountain Health Career Ladder Program, iAspire, kicked off in 2024 and originates from nursing theorist, Dr. Patricia Benner's “novice to expert” theory, which centers around the competence of the nurse through stages: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert.
The program offers a means for the bedside clinical nurse to advance in the nursing profession.
Additionally, the program:
- Fosters an environment of excellence in nursing care
- Recognizes accomplishments achieved by the clinical nurse
- Encourages professional development and accountability
- Increases retention
- Empowers ownership of practice
- Rewards and recognizes clinical nurses for their impact and the difference they make in safety, quality, their patients’ experiences, and professional practice
Good Samaritan is proud to have 120 nurses currently at an achieved career ladder level!
