Cystic Fibrosis Center

The Cystic Fibrosis Care Center at Primary Children's Hospital is a fully accredited multidisciplinary center that specializes in the coordinated care and treatment of cystic fibrosis. Our center is the only pediatric CF center in Utah and we serve patients from multiple mountain west states including: Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, and Nevada.

Sleep Clinic & Lab

The Sleep Center at Primary Children’s includes a multidisciplinary team trained in the identification, diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in infants, children and teens. We see children at two locations offering the same provider team and services.

Pulmonary Function Testing

Primary Children’s Hospital has four Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Labs, which are comprised of registered respiratory therapists who perform a variety of pulmonary function testing for children. These labs serve many subspecialties, including Pulmonology, Hematology, Oncology, Pediatric Surgery, Allergy, Immunology, Rheumatology, Cardiology, Orthopedics and Community Based Physicians.

Diagnostic testing includes:

  • Spirometry
  • Lung volume measurement
  • Diffusion capacity
  • Post-bronchodilator testing
  • Medication trial testing
  • Sputum induction
  • Exhaled nitric oxide measurement
  • End tidal carbon dioxide measurement
  • Maximal respiratory pressure assessment
  • 6-minute walk test
  • Methacholine bronchoprovocation challenges
  • Exercise challenge studies

We also provide respiratory education for pulmonary disease management, medication delivery, proper use of equipment, and airway clearance techniques. We typically perform more than 3,200 studies per year and provide respiratory education to over 1,000 children every year.
