Setting your health goals
Learn how to set and communicate your health goals.
SMART goals
Using SMART will help you easily outline what you want out of your health goals. Take it one step at a time and set goals that you can achieve.
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achievable
R - Relevant
T - Timely
Example:
S - I will walk
M - for 30 minutes
A - 3 days a week
R - to improve my cardiovascular health
T - over the next month
In the example above, you can clearly see how each section of the goal aligns with the SMART layout. We've set a specific action, in a measurable and achievable timeframe, while making it relevant and timely to our health now.
What's your SMART goal?
Connecting your values
Your values in life are often what lead your actions. And when it comes to your health, your values play an important role. Your values can help you set your health goals, and help you prioritize the skills you need to manage your health. This foundation will guide you in the choices you make about your life, future, and health.
For example:
I value adventure and being able to take on new and exciting experiences. I want my health to be easy and accessible through diet and exercise so I can always be ready for my next adventure.
