We treat all types of breast cancer.
Breast cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the breast begin to grow out of control and eventually form a tumor. There are many types of breast cancer. The most common for both men and women starts in the lining of the milk ducts of the breast and is called ductal carcinoma. The second most common type for women begins in the lobes, the glands that make milk, called lobular carcinoma. Other types of breast cancer include:
- Cribriform carcinoma
- Inflammatory breast cancer
- Medullary carcinoma
- Paget’s disease of the nipple
- Papillary carcinoma
- Phyllodes tumors
- Tubular carcinoma
Linda’s story
During a routine mammogram, Linda Campbell tested slightly over the high-risk threshold because a close family member had been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Linda's decision to get a FAST MRI scan made all the difference in catching her cancer early.
Reconstruction surgery
Our plastic surgeons use state of the art implant and tissue-transfer techniques to give you the best possible cosmetic outcome after mastectomy or lumpectomy. The plastic surgery team will discuss all the options with you, including whether it should be performed at the same time as a mastectomy or at a later time.
High-Risk Cancer Prevention
The High-Risk Cancer Prevention program can help understand your risk for cancer, develop a personalized plan for surveillance and risk reduction, and ensure you get appropriate care and support. Whether the risk comes from your family history or other risk factors, we tailor a plan to help you lower it.
