DBT, which is a psychotherapy, is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy. The aim of DBT is to help people learn new skills to better manage emotions, learn they do not have to act on all their urges and choose healthy and helpful behaviors. Research shows DBT is effective for multiple conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder.
