  • At-home or clinic influenza test result (available without a prescription at most drug stores, or online retailers)
  • You may qualify for the service if you are:
    1. 18 years of age or older
    2. Experiencing mild-moderate COVID symptoms, like coughing or a fever under 102 °F, for less than 5 days
    3. Not pregnant, nursing, or planning on becoming pregnant
    4. Positive for COVID using a home or clinic test
    5. Diagnosed with risk factors that make you more vulnerable to severe illness
  • Once you complete the intake form, a clinical pharmacist will contact you and determine qualification.
  • If you do not qualify, the pharmacist can assist with a referral to an Intermountain Health provider for evaluation.
    1. Once you complete the intake form, you will be contacted by one of our Clinical Pharmacists through secure messaging, a phone call, or virtual visit to evaluate your symptoms and recommend treatment.
    2. Assessment and evaluation may take 15-20 minutes.

    The cost of the service is $20 consultation fee plus the cost of the medication(s) prescription after insurance coverage.

    Some insurance companies may cover the consultation fee.

    If you do not qualify, you will not be charged for the service.

    1. A recommendation will be made after evaluation of symptoms.
    2. Antiviral treatment with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (Paxlovid) may be prescribed
    3. Over the counter medications may be recommended and could include:
      1. Acetaminophen
      2. Ibuprofen
      3. Naproxen
      4. Throat lozenges or spray
      5. Herbal tea
      6. Guaifenesin
      7. Dextromethorphan
      8. Vaporizer/humidifier
      9. Menthol
      10. Pseudoephedrine
      11. Oxymetazoline nasal spray
      12. Phenylephrine nasal spray
      13. Saline nasal spray
      14. Fluticasone nasal spray (or triamcinolone or budesonide nasal spray)
      15. Nasal/sinus irrigation
      16. Antihistamines such as diphenhydramine, fexofenadine, cetirizine, loratadine, chlorpheniramine

    You can expect to be contacted by the clinical pharmacist within a few hours (between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM MST) following submission of the intake form and depending on the time selected for a return call.

    If determined appropriate, a prescription for anti-viral medication will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice in order to start treatment as soon as possible.

    • Nausea or vomiting

    1. COVID can take 3 weeks to resolve. Antiviral medication like nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (Paxlovid) may help shorten the time it takes to feel better.
    2. If you have a fever above 103 °F lasting more than 3 days, seek in-person evaluation by a healthcare provider right away.
    1. The prescription antiviral medication nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (Paxlovid) is covered by some insurance plans.
    2. Most of the other medications used to treat COVID symptoms are available over the counter without a prescription and generally are not covered by insurance.
    3. If you don’t have insurance, there are assistance programs available.
