Learn more about what to expect with this service
The cost of the service is $20 consultation fee plus the cost of the medication(s) prescription after insurance coverage.
Some insurance companies may cover the consultation fee.
If you do not qualify, you will not be charged for the service.
Once you complete the intake form, you will be contacted by one of our Clinical Pharmacists through secure messaging, a phone call, or virtual visit to evaluate your symptoms and recommend treatment.
Assessment and evaluation may take 15-20 minutes.

The prescription antiviral medication oseltamivir is covered by most insurance plans.
Most of the other medications used to treat flu symptoms are available over the counter without a prescription and generally are not covered by insurance.
You may qualify for the service if you are:
- 18 years of age or older
- Experiencing flu-like symptoms
Once you complete the intake form, a clinical pharmacist will contact you and determine qualification.
If you do not qualify, the pharmacist can assist with a referral to an Intermountain Health provider for evaluation.

- Fever or chills
- Aching muscles or joints
- Sore throat
- Cough
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
A recommendation will be made after evaluation of symptoms.
Antiviral treatment with oseltamivir (Tamiflu) may be prescribed.
Over the counter medications may be recommended and could include:
- Acetaminophen
- Ibuprofen
- Naproxen
- Throat lozenges or spray
- Herbal tea
- Guaifenesin
- Dextromethorphan
- Vaporizer/humidifier
- Menthol
- Pseudoephedrine
- Oxymetazoline nasal spray
- Phenylephrine nasal spray
- Saline nasal spray
- Fluticasone nasal spray (or triamcinolone or budesonide nasal spray)
- Nasal/sinus irrigation
- Antihistamines such as diphenhydramine, fexofenadine, cetirizine, loratadine, chlorpheniramine
The flu can take up to two weeks to resolve. Antiviral medication like oseltamivir may help shorten the time it takes to feel better.
If you have a fever above 103°F lasting more than 3 days, seek in-person evaluation by a healthcare provider right away.
You can expect to be contacted by the clinical pharmacist within a few hours (between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM MST) following submission of the intake form and depending on the time selected for a return call.
If determined appropriate, a prescription for anti-viral medication will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice in order to start treatment as soon as possible.
